Welcome to Valley Hideaway, a beautifully restored Grade II-listed former Wesleyan schoolhouse tucked away in the peaceful Cornish village of Harrowbarrow, in the heart of the Tamar Valley.

Created for two, this gorgeous countryside retreat is the perfect place to switch off, slow down and escape together. Full of character yet finished with stylish contemporary interiors and plenty of luxurious touches, Valley Hideaway is ideal for romantic weekends, anniversaries, honeymoons or simply a few indulgent days exploring a quieter corner of Cornwall.

The heart of the property is its impressive open-plan living space, where original character meets modern design. High ceilings, beautiful architectural details and a striking glass mezzanine-style partition give the interior a wonderful sense of space, while underfloor heating and a contemporary log burner make it wonderfully cosy whatever the season.

Settle into the comfortable living area for lazy evenings in front of the fire, with a 55″ HD TV, full Sky package, Netflix, BT Sport and Sonos surround sound providing everything you need for a night in. Superfast Wi-Fi is also available throughout.

Upstairs, the spacious bedroom is a real highlight. A luxurious super king-size bed with high thread-count Egyptian cotton bedding sits overlooking the open-plan living area and the countryside beyond. There’s a generous dressing area, along with its own TV, Sky package and Sonos speaker for relaxed mornings and cosy nights.

The contemporary en-suite bathroom features underfloor heating, a large walk-in rainfall shower, illuminated mirror and stylish vanity area, while an additional WC is conveniently located downstairs.

Open the double doors from the living area and step onto the private south-facing patio, where sweeping countryside views stretch across the Tamar Valley towards Cotehele and the River Tamar. With outdoor furniture, sun loungers and a BBQ, it’s a gorgeous spot for morning coffee, long lunches, sunset drinks and alfresco dinners surrounded by the Cornish countryside.

Four-legged guests are just as welcome. Valley Hideaway is exceptionally dog friendly, with thoughtful touches including dog bowls, blankets, towels, outdoor washing facilities, treats and access to an exercise field – making it an ideal escape for couples who don’t want to leave their dogs behind.

The location is equally special. Harrowbarrow is a peaceful former mining village surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of the Tamar Valley. Kit Hill Country Park is just a few minutes away for spectacular walks and panoramic views, while the National Trust’s Cotehele estate, Calstock and the River Tamar are all close by.

For days by the sea, the spectacular south Cornish coastline is within easy reach, including Whitsand Bay, Seaton, Downderry and the Rame Peninsula. Guests can also explore Looe and Polperro, venture onto Bodmin Moor or cross towards Dartmoor and the historic market town of Tavistock.

There’s even a traditional village pub within walking distance in neighbouring Metherell – perfect for dinner and a pint after a day exploring.
